SPAR Budapest Marathon and the relay race will be started together in waves to lessen overcrowding and overtaking after the start.
Wheelchair and handbike racers can start ahead of the field but they have to consult with the race organizers in advance about passing the lead car.
The start of the SPAR 30 km will be at the 12.195th meter on the marathon course

HOW TO GET TO THE RACE CENTER (BUDA)

  • From Kelenföld Railway Station: take the metro line M4 in the direction of Keleti Railway Station. Get off at Móricz Zsigmond körtér (the 3rd stop from Kelenföld). Then take the tram 6 to Petőfi híd budai hídfő (2 stops). From here, walk through Pázmány Péter sétány, and you will reach the Race Center in 600 m.
  • From Keleti Railway Station: take the metro line M4 in the direction of Kelenföld Railway Station. Get off at Móricz Zsigmond körtér (the sixth stop from Keleti)Then take the tram 6 to Petőfi híd budai hídfő (2 stops). From here, walk through Pázmány Péter sétány, and you will reach the Race Center in 600 m.
  • From Nyugati Railway Station: take the tram 4 or tram 6 to Petőfi híd budai hídfő (10 stops) in the direction of Újbuda-Központ (in case of tram 4) or in the direction of Móricz Zsigmond körtér (in the case of tram 6). Get off at Petőfi híd budai hídfő and walk through Pázmány Péter sétány, and you will reach the Race Center in 600 m.
Regnum 30 km:

IMPORTANT! The location of the start for the 30 km race will be at a different location: at 12.195 meters on the marathon course.
There will be no mass start, runners start individually according to their goal finish time.
This way each runner joins the marathon field when marathon runners run with similar pace as them.

Zones will open approximately 25 minutes before the start and close 5 minutes before. Afterward, you may stand and start from the back of the field.

  • 2nd zone: pace between 4:30 and 5:00 min/km
    • Marathon finish time between 3 h 10 min and 3 h 30 min
  • 3rd zone: pace between 5:00 and 5:30 min/km
    • Marathon finish time between 3 h 30 min and 3 h 52 min
  • 4th zone: pace between 5:30 and 6:00 min/km

Regnum 30 km

Attention! There will be no shuttle services to transport runners to the start.

There will be no mass start, runners start individually according to their goal finish time from 9:40  until 10:15.
This way each runner joins the marathon field when marathon runners run a similar pace as them.

The course runs through the heart of Budapest, crosses several bridges and passes the most well-known sites of the city.

Starting Zones

We choose all of our pace runners very carefully, all of them are experienced runners and they are able to surpass their own interests and do everything for the runners who are following them and trust them. They think instead of the runners, check the time regularly and encourage others.

Look for them in the starting zones. You can always spot them from afar by the beach flags on their back (with their goal race pace and goal finish time). Find the pace that best suits you:

Selective waste collectors will be established at the refreshment points as well.


Time Limit

A sweep bus follows the runners after the last pace runner with a 5:30:00 finish time. See the pace chart.
If you are passed by the sweep bus, you have to get on the bus, your race number will be crossed and you are not allowed to enter the finish area.

The course starts from the 12.195 m of the 35th SPAR Budapest Marathon to the finish line. 

Each kilometer will be marked with a signboard along the course, placed at 2 meters height. This is intended to help you to keep up the planned pace throughout your running – however, the Marathon’s signboards will be available only, we do not put signboards for the 30 km race.

Bib pick-up

You can pick-up your bib number at the Race Expo in the following hours:

  • Thursday, 8 October: between 12:00 and 17:30
  • Friday, 9 October: between 09:00 and 17:30
  • Saturday, 10 October: between 07:00 and 17:00
  • Sunday, 11 October: between 07:00 and 8:30

Please pick up your bib-number at least 30 minutes before the start of the race!
You must have your registration confirmation with you to pick up your bib, either printed or the e-mail on your phone. To collect the bib of another runner you must show his/her registration confirmation.

Participants running their first marathon in their life are entitled to wear another bib on their back with „MY FIRST MARATHON” will be written on it.
If you indicated in the registry form that this would be your first marathon, you will get this race number automatically when picking up your race number. If you didn’t indicate it when registering for the event, and you really want this special bib, you can ask for it at the international problem-solving table in the race center.

Changing rooms, cloakrooms, toilets, Massage

Changing rooms

Facilities will be open before and after the race. Showers are also available on location for individual marathon and 30 km runners.
Additionally, there will be changing rooms at the start of 30 km and at the relay exchange stations.

Storage

FOR INDIVIDUAL MARATHON RUNNERS

  • Look for the storage tent that your bib number belongs to

(Each bib number belongs to different storage tent which will be indicated on boards. Location: Behind the „South building” of the Eötvös Lóránd University Lágymányosi Campus)

  • Tear off the baggage tag from the bottom of your bib number. Attach it to your baggage firmly with the safety pins provided in the race packet.
  • Hand over your baggage either to our event staff workers or drop it off at the tent.
  • After the race, you can reclaim your baggage by showing your bib number to our event staff workers

FOR REAL NATURE 30 KM RUNNERS

  • Follow the same instructions as mentioned above.
  • You can drop-off your baggages either at the start of the 30km race (Pesti alsó rakpart (Pest-Side Quay), close to the Pest end of Elizabeth Bridge) or behind the „South building” of the Eötvös Lóránd University Lágymányosi Campus
  • Baggages dropped at the start line will be transferred to the storage tent located at the finish area
  • After the race, you can reclaim your baggage there by showing your bib number to our event staff workers

OPENING HOURS (for both)

baggage drop-off (for 42 km individuals) : from 7:00 AM until 8:30 AM
baggage drop-off (for 30 km runners, at the finish area): from 7:30 AM until 9:00 AM
baggage pick-up: from 11:30 AM until 3:30 PM


MARATHON RELAY FOR 2 AND TOLLE UHT MARATHON RELAY FOR 4

  • Look for the storage tents indicated with GREEN

(Location: Behind the „South building” of the Eötvös Lóránd University Lágymányosi Campus)

  • In the storage tents, you will be given a wristband that will have the same number as the sticker which will be put on your baggage.

Please note, that there won’t be bag storage facilities at the relay exchange stations, only changing rooms will be available.

OPENING HOURS

 baggage drop-off: from 7:00 AM until 8:30 AM
baggage pick-up: from 11:30 AM until 3:30 PM

 


Attention! For valuables and personal items lost at the storage tents, the organizers cannot take any responsibility. After closure, any bags left at the storage tents will be automatically transported to and can be picked-up at BSI registration office (1138 Budapest, Váci út 152-156.)  on the week following the race.


Toilets

There will be portable toilets and urinals for men near the race centre, at the start/finish area, at each refreshment and relay exchange station.

Massage

All Individual Marathon Runners and 30 km Runners are entitled to have a massage in the North Building of the Eötvös Lóránd University (ELTE)

Relay Exchange Stations

At the relay exchange station, you have to hand over the team bib to the next runner in the designated zone.

SPAR Budapest Marathon Relay for 2 – Relay Exchange Station (at 21,8 km)

Location: on Budai alsó rakpart (Buda-side quay), on the north side of the slip road located at Halász utca, on the left side of the road

  • How to get there: Walk to the Petőfi híd budai hídfő (600m), take the tram 4 or tram 6 to Blaha Lujza tér (6 stops) in the direction of Széll Kálmán tér. Get off at Blaha Lujza tér, take the metro line M2 in the direction of Déli Railway Station. Get off at Batthyány tér (4 stops from Blaha Lujza tér). Then walk to the slip road at Halász utca
Tolle UHT Marathon Relay for 4 – Relay Exchange Stations –

1st Relay Exchange Station (at 9 km)
Location:
on Attila út, the next road after Alagút utca, on the right side of the road

  • How to get there: Walk to the Petőfi híd budai hídfő (600m), take the tram 6 to Móricz Zsigmond körtér (2 stops) or tram 4 to Újbuda Központ (2 stops). Then, take the tram 56 to Krisztina tér (6 or 7 stops). Get off, and walk to the Relay Exchange Station. (Attila út).

2nd Relay Exchange Station (at 21,4 km, the 2nd runner has to run 12.4 km)
Location: on the south side of the slip road located at Halász utca, on the left side of the road

  • How to get there: Walk to the Petőfi híd budai hídfő (600m), take the tram 4 or tram 6 to Blaha Lujza tér (6 stops) in the direction of Széll Kálmán tér. Get off at Blaha Lujza tér, take the metro line M2 in the direction of Déli Railway Station. Get off at Batthyány tér (4 stops from Blaha Lujza tér). Then walk to the slip road at Halász utca

3rd Relay Exchange Station (at 29,7 km, the 3rd runner has to run 8.3 km)
Location:
on ‘Laktanya utca’ located in Óbuda, on the right side of the road

  • How to get there – you have 2 options:
    • Walk to the Petőfi híd budai hídfő (600m), take the tram 4 or tram 6 to Nyugati Railway Station (10 stops) in the direction of Széll Kálmán tér. Then, take the bus 9 to Flórián tér (10 stops). Get off and walk through Miklós utca, then Vöröskereszt utca until Laktanya utca. (Attention! 40-45 mins!)
    • Walk to the Rákóczi híd budai hídfő, take the tram 1 to Flórián tér (22 stops) in the direction of „Bécsi út/Vörösvári út”. Get off and walk through Miklós utca, then Vöröskereszt utca until Laktanya utca. (Attention! 50-55 mins!)
Rules of exchange:
  • Do not remove or injure the chip on the back of the team bib
  • Make sure you use your own team’s bib
  • Please leave the measuring areas as soon as possible

Refreshment

Race day is not the time to experiment. You don’t know how new nutrition or hydration will affect you during the race!

Results

A list of results will be published online in real-time, the lists are being updated while runners are crossing the finish line.
Runners who do not have time result at one of the checkpoints along the course will not be given a rank.
Those who received a 10-minute penalty will be marked with an asterisk.

Medical assistance

During the race, medical services are available in the medical area beside the finish line.

If you see someone collapsing along the course please notify the race organizers posted at each kilometer sign or at the refreshment stations.

At the back of each bib, you can find the phone number of the medical team.

Fill in the emergency section on the back of your bib. Do not forget to mention if you have taken any medication before the race!


Additional information

  • Please wear your race number on the front and make sure that it is clearly visible at all times and don’t fold it! Make sure you put your race number on your T-shirt properly with the safety pins which can be found in your race packet and also on the registration tables. Improper wear might result in a 10-minute time penalty.
  • Participation in the event is open to any properly trained runner or wheelchair racer who has agreed to the standard terms and conditions.
  • When you use earphones, you are unable to hear noises from outside, so you might obstruct a runner who is trying to pass you or race marshals or members of the medical team. It is not recommended to listen to MP3 players or any other devices plugged into both ears.
  • Among the runners, there will be race organizers on bikes and motorbikes, and also ambulances if needed.
  • Participants are not permitted to roller-skate, bike, run without a race number, or run with a dog. Those attempting to run accompanied by someone on a bicycle or on roller-skates can be disqualified.
  • Any commercial or promotional activity should be permitted by BSI in advance, in a manner determined by BSI.
  • BSI reserves the right to limit the number of participants and close registration at any time.
  • BSI reserves the right to change the route, the program and the date of the event.
