While tens of thousands run on October 11–12 at the jubilee 40th SPAR Budapest Marathon Festival, celebrity chef Gábor Krausz will take on a special role alongside Frigyes Vomberg and András Wolf: on Saturday, instead of lining up at the start, the trio will step behind a giant cauldron to cook for a good cause. Ahead of the star-studded charity cookout and exclusive auction, Gábor shared why this initiative is so close to his heart.
Star Chefs by the Cauldron
Those who were there last year won’t forget it: Gábor Krausz, Frigyes Vomberg and András Wolf cooked 400 portions of paprika potatoes, which sold out in a flash—in just an hour and a half. The action raised over HUF 800,000 for the Megyünk Tovább Előre (“Moving Forward Together”) Foundation, which supports cancer patients. After such success, there was no question the star-chef trio would return this year.
“Since the three of us are stronger at cooking than running, we decided to make something tasty for the athletes again this year. Anyone who finishes their distance is warmly welcome at our tent! They can enjoy what we cook with zero guilt,” said Gábor.
A Candid Confession: Family Is His Strength
Gábor also revealed why healthy living and charity have become so important to him.
“Ever since I’ve had a family, I pay close attention to doing everything I can to live longer and look after my loved ones for as long as possible. Sport has entered my life and, while not every day, I work out two to three times a week. And after a good run, a delicious meal can feel incredible,” added the chef, for whom being able to help with his cooking clearly means a lot.
Star Lineup and Exclusive Auction
The 40th SPAR Budapest Marathon Festival will be the largest marathon event in Hungarian history. In step with the record-breaking jubilee, the Foundation is also raising the bar and aiming to make an even bigger impact. In addition to the chefs’ popular dishes, there will be an exclusive auction of unique sports memorabilia hosted by Gábor Gönczi. At the Foundation’s tent, visitors may also meet Olympic champions and elite athletes, ask for autographs or take photos together.
