Never have so many runners registered for the Budapest Marathon and Half Marathon with just under a half a year before the start. Even compared to 2014, which saw record participation, entries are up to 50 percent higher by the end of May compared to a year earlier.
Individual entrants for the Sept 13 Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon, already number nearly 5,000, and almost 50 percent increase compared to last year. Meanwhile entries for the Oct 11 SPAR Budapest Marathon’s classic 42K distance, are 40 percent higher than this time last year.
So far more than a 1,000 international runners from 48 countries have registered to run in the Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon until today. British runners are the biggest group of foreign runner with 140 entries but runners from as far as Hong Kong are planning to come to Budapest. For the SPAR Budapest Marathon, overseas entries already total 2,000 from 63 countries with Brits leading the way (333 runners) but we also have runner from the Ivory Coast, Malaysia and Madagascar.
