Relay teams will receive two types of race bibs.

INDIVIDUAL Bib: This bib displays the team number and the team member’s index within a frame. This bib must be worn visibly on the front throughout the entire race. If the first team member also runs the race individually, they do not need to wear this bib.

RELAY Bib: This bib displays the team number and also includes the timing chip (on the back of the bib). The current relay team member must wear this bib on their lower back. A race belt will be provided for attaching the bib. Relay transition occurs by handing over the bib.

You will be allowed to approach the race bib pickup tables as soon as a spot becomes available. The race bib distribution tables are not organized according to race bib numbers; you can approach any available table. It is IMPORTANT to know your race bib number when you line up at the tables.

If you don’t know your race bib number, you can look it up in the start list next to the corresponding distance using your name.

Changing Rooms: The men’s changing room will be set up in the southern block of ELTE Lágymányosi Campus. The entrance will be through the doors on the side facing the main stage. The women’s changing room will also be in the same building. The entrance will be through the doors on the side of the building facing away from the Danube.

At the relay exchange points, changing facilities will be provided in tents.

When participants leave their bags at the cloakroom, they will receive a wristband with a unique number that will match the label number attached to their bag by the BSI cloakroom staff. When retrieving their bags, participants will have their wristbands removed.

Please note that the cloakroom will not be responsible for storing valuable items.

Opening Hours: Bag Drop-off: 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM Bag Collection: 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM

Attention! The cloakroom does not provide storage for valuables.

Bicycle Storage: Bicycle storage will be arranged on the riverside of the southern block of ELTE Lágymányosi Campus.

Restrooms: Restrooms can be used in the basement of the men’s and women’s changing rooms. Mobile restrooms will be available near the start/finish area, and there will also be mobile urinals for men.

On the route, you will find mobile restrooms at the refreshment stations and relay exchange points, and there will also be mobile urinals for men.

The first runners of the relay teams will start together with the individual marathon runners. They should position themselves in the designated start zone according to their planned pace. Before the start, everyone should stand in the start zone that corresponds to their planned pace (minutes per kilometer) in order to avoid disturbing other runners.

  • Zone 1: Under 4:30 (Within 3:10:00 marathon time) (Marked with ‘1’ on the bib, before the number)
  • Zone 2: 4:30-5:00 (Within 3:10:00 – 3:30:00 marathon time) (Marked with ‘2’ on the bib, before the number)
  • Zone 3: 5:00-5:30 (Within 3:30:00 – 3:52:00 marathon time) (Marked with ‘3’ on the bib, before the number)
  • Zone 4: 5:30-6:00 (Within 3:52:00 – 4:13:00 marathon time) (Marked with ‘4’ on the bib, before the number)
  • Zone 5: 6:00-6:30 (Within 4:13:00 – 4:34:00 marathon time) (Marked with ‘5’ on the bib, before the number)
  • Zone 6: Over 6:30 (Over 4:34:00 marathon time) (Marked with ‘6’ on the bib, before the number)

The zone designations are the same for individual marathon runners, 4-person relay teams, and marathon pairs. When specifying the planned pace for relay teams, only the pace of the first team member running matters.

Everyone can only enter the designated start zone that corresponds to their planned pace. This is to reduce the chaos during the first kilometers after the start and unnecessary overtaking. If runners of the same pace are in the same zone, the beginning of the race will be more peaceful and predictable. The label on the bib indicates the designated start zone, and it is checked when entering the zone. The number on the label corresponds to the zone number. For relay teams, the zone sticker will be on the team bib.

Without a zone sticker, you can only enter the last start zone. Those who didn’t specify a planned pace can request a zone sticker at the race center before the start.

Always position yourself at the end of the time zone marker flag, which means standing towards the start from the entry gate.

After entering the zone, move toward the start line so that participants coming after you can also enter the zone.

The entry gates to the start zones will open 20 minutes before the start and will close 5 minutes before the start. After that, you can only enter the last start zone.

If you encounter a runner with the wrong zone sticker in your zone, kindly ask them to choose a zone that matches their estimated finish time to avoid confusion and potential accidents.

Staggered Start at the 38th SPAR Budapest Marathon® Festival:

For the marathon relay participants, we have staggered starts in multiple waves, alongside the individual marathon runners. Each wave starts within a 3-minute interval.

At the front of each wave, organizers will be present to guide the participants toward the starting line.

Once at the starting line, we will initiate the start approximately 1.5 minutes later, and we will follow the same procedure for participants starting in subsequent waves.

Please note that the entry gates between the waves will not reopen!

Any equipment left in the start zone will be collected immediately after the start and donated to the Hungarian Red Cross for charity.

  • At the refreshment stations along the route, we will provide 1 cubic meter collection containers primarily for collecting empty cups. You will find these containers on both sides of the route, following the last refreshment table.

  • The last container will be placed 50 meters after the end of the station, and this will be indicated by a separate sign. Please make sure to dispose of any waste from the refreshment station into this container.

  • Any waste generated along the route should not be scattered. Please place it in the containers provided at the refreshment stations.

  • At the refreshment stations, we will not hand you cups filled with water or isotonic drinks. You are responsible for taking these from the tables yourself. Under no circumstances should you place used, empty cups back onto the refreshment tables!

  • Refreshment stations can often pose challenges. Do not attempt to squeeze between two runners for a quick drink or snack. Adhere to basic etiquette during the race as well. Wait your turn and remember that there are often fewer people towards the end of the station. Take only what you need, as there may be runners behind you who need refreshments even more.

  • If weather conditions warrant, we may set up additional temporary water stations along the route.

  • After crossing the finish line, you can collect your medal first, followed by your finisher’s package.

The timing services provider is AGNI-Timing.

Timing is done using UHF chips attached to the back of the race bib. Please read the chip usage information!

Race bib wearing rules: Timing is achieved using timing mats (antennas) placed on the ground, which can detect the transmitter embedded in the race bib from a distance of approximately 2-3 meters. The time stamp is recorded when passing over the mat with the strongest signal.

To ensure successful individual timing, please consider the following rules:

The race bib must be worn visibly throughout the race, on the chest/abdominal area. (Race belt is allowed.) Covering the race bib is prohibited! Do not remove, fold, or pierce the chip located on the back of the race bib. Everyone should ensure they are wearing their own race bib during the race. After finishing the race, please leave the measurement area as soon as possible.

SPAR Budapest Marathon in Pairs:

Women’s, men’s, and mixed teams will be evaluated separately. For each gender, the 1st to 3rd place teams will be awarded.

AFTER YOU FINISHED

The results will be continuously updated on the results list following the participants’ arrival at the finish line.

Participants without a placement number will appear on the results list if they do not have times recorded at one of the route checkpoints. Those who received a 10-minute time penalty for improper bib number wearing will have an asterisk (*) next to their name.
