If the team’s first member also completes the distance individually, they are not required to wear this race number.

RELAY race number: This will display the team’s race number, and the timing chip will be attached to the back of it. The current runner in the relay must wear this race number around their waist on the back. Race number belts will be provided. Exchange the race number during the relay transition.

You will be allowed to approach the race number pickup tables when they become available. The race number pickup tables are not organized by specific race numbers; you can approach any available table. It’s IMPORTANT to know your race number when you line up at the tables.

If you’re unsure of your race number, you can search for your name in the race list at the corresponding distance to find your race number.

Participants will receive a wristband when depositing their bags. The serial number on the wristband will match the label number attached to their deposited bags by the BSI cloakroom attendants. The wristband will be removed from their wrist when collecting the bags. There will be no cloakroom facilities at the relay transition points!

OPENING HOURS: Bag Deposit: Between 7:00 and 8:30 Bag Collection: Between 11:30 and 15:00

You should line up at the starting gate from the side facing the Petőfi Bridge, in the starting zone corresponding to the pace specified during registration.

Start Zones and Relay Start Procedure:

The first runners of relay teams will start together with the individual marathon runners. They should position themselves in the designated start zone based on their planned pace per kilometer. We kindly ask everyone to align themselves in the appropriate start zone according to their planned pace in order to avoid disrupting other runners.

  • Zone 1: Sub 4:30 (Sub 3:10:00 marathon) (Number 1 on the bib, preceding the digits)
  • Zone 2: 4:30-5:00 (Between 3:10:00 – 3:30:00 marathon) (Number 2 on the bib, preceding the digits)
  • Zone 3: 5:00-5:30 (Between 3:30:00 – 3:52:00 marathon) (Number 3 on the bib, preceding the digits)
  • Zone 4: 5:30-6:00 (Between 3:52:00 – 4:13:00 marathon) (Number 4 on the bib, preceding the digits)
  • Zone 5: 6:00-6:30 (Between 4:13:00 – 4:34:00 marathon) (Number 5 on the bib, preceding the digits)
  • Zone 6: Above 6:30 (Above 4:34:00 marathon) (Number 6 on the bib, preceding the digits)

The start zone markings are the same for individual marathon runners, 4-person relay teams, and marathon pairs. For relay teams, the pace of the first team member matters when indicating the planned pace.

At our event, everyone must enter the designated start zone according to their predetermined planned pace. This approach aims to reduce the commotion during the first kilometers after the start, minimizing unnecessary overtaking. When runners of the same pace start from the same zone, the beginning of the race becomes more calm and predictable. The labels on the bib help indicate the proper start zone, and these will be checked when entering the zone. The label number matches the zone number.

For relay teams, the start zone sticker will be on the team bib. Each participant can only enter the start zone corresponding to the zone number on their bib. Participants who didn’t provide a planned pace can request a start zone sticker at the event center before the start. Without a start zone sticker, one can only enter the last start zone.

The time flag indicating the pace will always be positioned at the end of the respective time zone, which means it should always be positioned closer to the starting gate from where participants enter the zone. After entering, proceed towards the starting gate to allow runners behind you to join the zone. Start zone gates will open 20 minutes before the start and close 5 minutes before the start. After that, participants can only position themselves towards the back of the field.

If you encounter a runner with an inappropriate bib sticker in your start zone, kindly ask them to choose the start zone corresponding to their target finish time. This helps prevent confusion and potential accidents.

Segmented Start at the 38th SPAR Budapest Marathon® Festival:

Participants of the marathon relay distance will start in multiple waves along with the individual marathon runners. Each wave starts every 3 minutes. At the front of the following waves, organizers will be present to guide the participants towards the starting line. After reaching the starting line, we will initiate their start approximately 1.5 minutes later. The same procedure applies to participants starting in later waves.

Gates between waves will not be reopened!

Items left at the start zones will be collected immediately after the start and donated to the Hungarian Red Cross for charitable purposes.

  • At the refreshment stations along the route, we will provide 1 cubic meter collection containers primarily for collecting empty cups. You will find these containers on both sides of the route, following the last refreshment table.

  • The last container will be placed 50 meters after the end of the station, and this will be indicated by a separate sign. Please make sure to dispose of any waste from the refreshment station into this container.

  • Any waste generated along the route should not be scattered. Please place it in the containers provided at the refreshment stations.

  • At the refreshment stations, we will not hand you cups filled with water or isotonic drinks. You are responsible for taking these from the tables yourself. Under no circumstances should you place used, empty cups back onto the refreshment tables!

  • Refreshment stations can often pose challenges. Do not attempt to squeeze between two runners for a quick drink or snack. Adhere to basic etiquette during the race as well. Wait your turn and remember that there are often fewer people towards the end of the station. Take only what you need, as there may be runners behind you who need refreshments even more.

  • If weather conditions warrant, we may set up additional temporary water stations along the route.

  • After crossing the finish line, you can collect your medal first, followed by your finisher’s package.

The timing services provider is AGNI-Timing.

Timing is done using UHF chips attached to the back of the race bib. Please read the chip usage information!

Race bib wearing rules: Timing is achieved using timing mats (antennas) placed on the ground, which can detect the transmitter embedded in the race bib from a distance of approximately 2-3 meters. The time stamp is recorded when passing over the mat with the strongest signal.

To ensure successful individual timing, please consider the following rules:

The race bib must be worn visibly throughout the race, on the chest/abdominal area. (Race belt is allowed.) Covering the race bib is prohibited! Do not remove, fold, or pierce the chip located on the back of the race bib. Everyone should ensure they are wearing their own race bib during the race. After finishing the race, please leave the measurement area as soon as possible.

Marathon Relay:

The women’s and men’s teams are evaluated separately, while mixed teams are evaluated among the men’s teams. For each gender, the 1st to 3rd place teams will be recognized.

AFTER YOU FINISHED

The results will be continuously updated on the results list following the participants’ arrival at the finish line.

Participants without a placement number will appear on the results list if they do not have times recorded at one of the route checkpoints. Those who received a 10-minute time penalty for improper bib number wearing will have an asterisk (*) next to their name.
