As a result of the increase in the number of COVID19 cases in Hungary, the Hungarian Government has decided to extend its border closures to fight the spread of the coronavirus pandemic until the end of October. These entry restrictions make it still unfortunately impossible for foreigners to enter Hungary. Foreigners will only be allowed to enter Hungary in special cases.
However, if you meet the administrative requirements of entering and stay in Hungary, and you can take part in the event, you have nothing to do now. You can pick up your BIB number at the Race Center during the opening hours.
We are offering 2 options for those, who cannot attend the SPAR Budapest Marathon race taking place on 10-11 October due to the restrictions:
- The paid entry fee will be automatically credited to your online BSI account that you can use for registering for any upcoming Run In Budapest / BSI-organized events until 31.12.2022 (we are giving you an extra +1 year). Please expect your credits to be uploaded to your online BSI account once the real event has taken place – from 20 October.
- We are organizing the event in a virtual edition in parallel, this will be the Virtual SPAR Budapest Marathon, organized between October 2-12, 2020.
⚠ IMPORTANT! We will need your feedback on how to proceed. If you would like to participate in the virtual event instead of the real in-person event, first, you will need to cancel your existing registration for the 35th SPAR Budapest Marathon by sending us an email to the regist[email protected] address until 9 October 12:00 p.m. (noon, UTC+02:00).
After your successful cancellation, we will credit your entry fee on your online BSI account. You will be able to use it to register for the virtual event. Otherwise, you will be able to register for the event only by paying with your credit card.
Please note, that the difference between the entry fee paid for the in-person event and the entry fee for the virtual edition will be credited to your online BSI account. You can use this credit to register for any Run In Budapest / BSI -organized event until 31.12.2022.
We are extremely sorry, that the second wave of the COVID19 epidemic has taken away the opportunity for many foreign runners to run in Budapest.
We hope to see you at one of our events in the coming years. We wish you good runs in the meantime!
